Stucco repair

Cracks, stains or soft spots? Start here.

Most stucco damage starts with water getting behind the wall. A surface patch hides it for a season or two. We open the wall, fix what’s rotted and rebuild it so the problem doesn’t come back. When the original stucco is beyond patching, we re-stucco it.

  • Cracks that keep coming back, or that are wider than a hairline
  • Bulging, soft or hollow-sounding spots
  • Stains or streaks under windows and at corners
  • Bubbling paint or white, chalky residue on the surface
  1. Inspect and test for moisture

Before we price anything, we find out what’s behind the wall. That’s how the estimate stays honest.

  2. Fix the framing and sheathing

Rotted plywood, studs and headers come out and get replaced. New stucco over bad wood just fails again.

  3. Weather barrier and flashing

A water-resistive barrier goes over the sheathing, lapped the right way, with flashing at every window and door.

  4. Lath and weep screed

Metal lath is fastened into the framing, and a weep screed at the base gives any water that gets in a way out.

  5. Three coats, properly cured

Scratch coat, brown coat and finish coat, with time to cure in between. Rushing this step is what causes cracking.

  6. Match the finish and walk through

Texture and color matched so the repair blends in, the site cleaned up, and a walkthrough with you before we call it done.

Every repair is rebuilt to Louisiana’s residential building code.

What our customers say

“Mark, the owner and his crew, also came out late one evening in anticipation of possible rain, to cover the windows and his previous work. The crew was always on time, cleaner up daily … Mark kept us updated throughout to their status and came in on schedule at his quoted price.”

“I hired Saba Stucco to re-stucco my entire house, which is fully stuccoed. Mark, George, and their team were polite, knowledgeable, and skilled. They worked efficiently but were also patient with us when we had difficulty deciding on the color, never making us feel rushed. They left everything clean and tidy, being careful not to damage any flowers. I highly recommend them—they were a pleasure to work with. If I have any future stucco projects, Saba Stucco will be my go-to.”

“True professional. We had some extensive damage on the front of our house. They tore out bad plywood, studs, etc and reframed the whole area, did electrical work, stucco, hung fixtures, sealed everything, etc. They are much more than a stucco contractor and Mark Saba has been at this a long time and his knowledge is exceptional. 100% trustworthy craftsman.”

Common questions

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. We come out, look at the work, check for moisture where it matters, and give you a written estimate at no charge. There’s no obligation to hire us.

Is a crack in my stucco worth fixing?

A fine hairline crack in a solid wall is often cosmetic. Cracks around windows and doors, stains, bulges and soft spots usually mean water is getting behind the stucco, and that gets worse and more expensive the longer it goes. The free inspection tells you which one you have.

Do you fix the damage behind the stucco, or just the crack?

Both. We open the wall, find where the water is getting in, replace any rotted plywood, studs or sheetrock, and then rebuild and match the stucco. Patching over the damage only hides it for a while.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Saba Stucco is licensed and insured in Louisiana.

Who will I be dealing with?

Saba Stucco is family owned and operated. Owner Mark Saba is involved in every job, from the estimate through the final walkthrough.

What areas do you serve?

How long does stucco work take?

Small repairs usually take one to two days. A full re-stucco or new stucco on a whole house usually takes one to two weeks, depending on size and weather.
